2nd set of Disney Pics
Disney Pics
At this point we’ve posted a lot of photos from our Disney trip. But we of course have many many more than what we’ve posted. Here’s a set of about 80 that you can view via slide show (you should be able to view full screen)
Family fun
We had one of the spontaneous moments of fun last night after dinner at Moe’s. A family relay race around the fountain.
It’s the little things in life. And this is one of them.
So fun.

Disney Recap, Part II: Magic Kingdom
We knew that the highlight of the theme park portion of our trip was going to be Magic Kingdom. With kids aged 7, (almost) 5, 2.5 and then the babies, there was an obvious draw to the characters, attractions and entire Magic Kingdom experience. We ended up spending almost 2 full days at Magic Kingdom and an additional night, during which we took in the night-time Electrical Parade.

Disney Recap, Part I
Well, we’ve been back from Disney for a week and we’ve yet to provide any sort of recap save for a bunch of pictures that were live-blogged while in Florida. Never fear - in return for the little delay in posts, I thought it would make sense to do a series of posts (couple? few? who knows) to talk all about what we did. The trip certainly deserves a few posts because
a) it was...
Happy Birthday Jensen!
Today you are 5! We were so glad to have such a great time with you last week at Disney and to pre-celebrate a little.
You are such a sweet, smart, interesting and creative little girl who is growing up (way too fast!) into a lovely young lady. Seems like yesterday you were a little baby! Please don’t tell me that this means Charlotte will soon be 5 as well!
(Jensen at 1 week, 6...
Tracy posted this to Twitter last week but thought I’d put it here as well…one of the highlights of the Disney trip, a character dinner at “Chef Mickey”. Things got a little rowdy at one point…

Mail from Mickey
We leave this weekend for a visit to Orlando and Disney with the Millers and Huitsings. We know that Miller may be a little young to remember this trip, but he sure is excited ahead of time. This morning we found a letter from Mickey in the mailbox. As you can see, he’s pretty pumped.
Big thumbs up to our friend Lindsay Rogers for the idea for a letter from Mickey!
Should be some...
New foods
Charlotte has started eating some new foods, with mixed success. She’s not a fan of rice cereal and pretty much hated her first tries at squash. Be we are delighted to find out that she is a fan of carrots.
Hoping to find some more foods she enjoys over the next few weeks!
7 Years Ago Today
Tracy and I were married.
Do we look like kids there? Looking back, it’s clear that we were just kids.
It seems you learn so much during 7 years of marriage. How to love each other selflessly. How to fight well. How to grow up while also growing together.
So today I don’t feel like a kid anymore. But I sure am glad that those kids from 7 years ago made the decision and...

NYC Visitors
Last weekend, before the big race, we were thrilled to get a chance to visit with two different sets of friends from NYC who happened to be in town.
First off, on Friday, we saw our friends Jordan and Trevor Smith (and their beautiful children Austin and Eliza). Some of you may remember that Austin was born 3 months before Miller while we were in NYC (in fact, here’s a photo of Jordan...
Thanks Jennifer!
On Sunday afternoon, Tracy’s sister Jennifer came up to spend the night and next day with us. Specifically, she said she wanted to get some special time with the kids but also to make some meals for us to help us out since life is cray cray when you have two little ones.
We had a blast with Jennifer - Miller especially enjoyed the walk to the playground where he was able to show off all...
Raleigh Rocks Half Marathon
Right around the time 2012 started I began asking a lot of people what their resolutions and goals were for the New Year. Tracy was just a little more than a month removed from giving birth to Charlotte, so one of the top things on her list was getting back into working out. As a way to make this happen, Tracy set a goal of doing a half marathon in 2012.
I’m delighted to say that...
Happy Birthday Big Pappa!
Yesterday was my Dad’s birthday, his 54th on this Earth. Of course, if you ask my Dad how old he was turning yesterday he’d probably say “30-24”. He’s been using that joke for years (along with a few others). Which is one of the main things we love about him - he may be getting older each year but his jokes will never get old.
We’re looking forward to...

More March Madness
March Madness is winding down for the NCAA teams but this week at the office there was another kind of March Madness. For the 2nd year in a row, the American Tobacco Complex where my office is set up a 3v3 basketball tournament for the local offices. Each company could enter up to 2 teams in a 32 team bracket for bragging rights and a chance to donate some money to the local public schools.

Wedding Fun
On Saturday we attended the wedding of my cousin, Jennifer, in Raleigh. It was a lot of fun as we had our whole crew together and it was Miller’s first wedding (though in fairness, he didn’t really attend the wedding as we didn’t want to cause any disruptions. He was perfectly content to hang out in the van watching Thomas before getting to participate in reception).
And...
5 Months!
Hi there, I was 5 months yesterday when this picture was taken!
Do you think I look like my brother when he was 5 months?
UNC Kidney Care 5K
Ever since we moved back to NC almost 2 years ago (seriously! time is flying!) we’ve had the great privilege of having awesome friends as “backfence neighbors”. Cam and Emily Ledford moved into our neighborhood from Kansas during the summer of 2010 just before we came back as Cam was starting his residency at Duke in Orthopedics.
In addition to being great folks and rabid...
NanaTaco
The other day Tracy and the kids met up for lunch with Kelly Travis and her son Webb at one of our favorite spots in town - NanaTaco. What’s fun is that last summer they went with the boys to Que Shack, right next to NanaTaco - so you can see how much these boys have grown up in less than a year!

these boys are growing up too fast
Beautiful Charlotte
We’ve all heard the truism before that 2nd kids get the short end of the stick at least when it relates to number of pictures taken and number of memories that are captured for eternal memorialization. As any loyal reader of this blog knows, we took a TON of pictures and video of Miller. And life is busier with two, which has resulted in less overall pics of Charlotte (though the...
