Weekly Reader - UPDATED
Anyone else remember in elementary school getting a weekly pamphlet known as the Weekly Reader? My memory is vague on this, but I think we used to get a regular copy with options to purchase books or magazines which would be delivered to school.
With a lot going on at work and a trip to North Carolina this weekend for a wedding, I have little in the way of new content. But I’ve noticed...
PS 22 Rocks the House
Amazing stuff from PS 22 out of Staten Island. The group sings popular songs and have drawn millions of views on You Tube.
Thanks to Zeke Smith for “tweeting” this gem

I could tell you...
I could tell you about how fun it was to be with the Furnas clan this weekend with no real agenda except for a great deal of quality time together.
But I won’t.
I could tell you about the late night laughs - brief moments of belly-aching merriment, most of which was related to “nothing” in the most Seinfeld-esque way.
But I won’t.
I could tell you about the sun shining...
The Furni are coming...
After a temporary lull in hosting visitors, we very excited about welcoming our good friends Ben and Ivey Furnas (as well as their 6 month old Jackson) to the Big City this weekend.
As many know, Ben and I grew up together and also lived together for three years in college. Along the way we developed what in effect is a 2nd language of inside jokes, acronyms and slang. It’s mere gibberish...
How do you stack up?
Amidst the gloom and doom of Treasury’s pressuring of Bank of America and management changes at MySpace, today’s Wall Street Journal front page featured an article focused on the lighter side of life, focusing on the emerging “sport”/contest of sport stacking.
The activity involves stacking plastic cups in various sized pyramid shapes, and has official rules and...
How to Nail an Interview
It seems times are tougher than ever, with a large number of Americans out of work. The college class of 2009 is about to enter the working world, and I can imagine there are quite a few who are scouring Monster.com and preparing for interviews in hopes of landed a 1st job.
I stumbled across this site which provides some good tips for interviewers of all ages. But the best part is the videos...
Clinton Portis shows a softer side during a community day with some Special Olympians. Very cool to see Clinton having fun giving back to the community.
A lot can happen in 6,666 days
Exactly 6,666 days ago, a scared (but tall) 9-year old girl stepped foot into Mrs. Nelson’s 3rd grade class for the first time. It was January 1991, and young Tracy Miller was the new girl in a new place with new faces staring back at her and she knew only that all this newness didn’t really feel so great. In the back of the cozy classroom, a young boy, in seeing his towering new...
Images of a Championship
My buddy Zeke Smith is a talented photographer. He was at floor level as the Heels won their 5th NCAA basketball championship against MSU. Check out a full slide show of his pictures from the game here.
Random NYC Fact O' The Day
Tracy and I decided to go for an evening jog in the Park last night, and it proved to be quite enjoyable given the lack of crowds and the mild weather. While traversing our normal southern loop we eavesdropped a bit as a man driving one of the famous horse-drawn carriages told his guests some interesting facts about Central Park.
The one fact we were able to hear: The famous Tavern on the Green...
Friday Night Fun
Lest anyone get the false impression that NY life is all glitz and glamour, all fancy restaurants and big sights - I present to you the last 3 hours of my Friday night. That’s right, I’ve been shuttling to the basement every 45 minutes or so to get rid of the Everest-size pile of clothes which somehow appeared over the course of the last fortnight. In between shoveling quarters into...

A Special Monday Night
It’s always good to be playing a college basketball game on a Monday night in April.
This feat has happened exactly three times for my Tar Heels in the 27+ years I’ve been on Earth. Of course, it’s hard to remember the first time in 1982, as I was a bit more focused on sitting up on my own without tipping over than I was with how the Heels would attack Patrick Ewing and the mighty Georgetown...
