Love the smiles!

Included within: baby bump, lake fun, sparklers, lots of quality time with family.
In other words, a whole bunch of awesome.
A Love Story
I never get tired of telling the story. I think this is mostly because the story itself is so unbelievable. It’s like a fairy tale. Or a cheesy romantic comedy. And yet it’s real. The story begins with two college kids, one young lady and one young man, in December of 1978. Our duo found themselves doing what many college students tend to do on a typical evening. Both were...
Lake Time
We’re venturing south to North Carolina this weekend (in fact, Tracy flew out Wednesday morning) to spend some quality time with both of our families. We were in town about a month ago, but spent most the trip doing stuff related to a wedding. We found time to share the news that Tracy’s pregnant, but soon thereafter had to fly back to the big city.
So this trip is pure, old...
Tracy meets Jason
Tracy was in the airport this morning on her way back to Greensboro to see our families when she saw a familiar face - the face of Jason McElwain, who inspired the nation a few years ago with his miraculous basketball performance in his high school team’s final regular season game.
In case you need a refresher on Jason’s incredible story, check out this video.
The NYC Marathon Dream
A Dream Deferred by Langston Hughes
What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore— And then run? Does it stink like rotten meat? Or crust and sugar over— like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?
I don’t quite remember when I first read Langston Hughes’ “A Dream...
DC Road Trip
In a few short hours we will be boarding a bus to head down to our nation’s capital to see Robert and Catherine Whitehill.
The Whitehills were self proclaimed “2008 NYC Most Valuable Guests” for coming to visit us twice during our first 5 months in Manhattan. Thanks to awesome memories like the dinner at Tao pictured below, we can’t argue with the MVG moniker and hope to...
A New Blog
I’ve had the great honor of helping my buddy Brent Carothers dip his toe into the friendly waters of the “blogging world” over the last few days. Brent is a UVa grad, pediatrician, Sapo expert, and one of the most interesting and talented guys I know (in spite of the fact that he’s a total Jimmy Eat World fanboy).
I’ll let Brent give me the green light before I link...

Fun with Numbers: NASCAR Style
As a young boy, I can remember waking up on Saturday mornings and spending hours rearranging my baseball cards in to different binders, piles and boxes. The permutations were practically endless - by team, by name, by brand and year of card. I spent quite a bit of time looking at the back of the cards too, figuring out what all the stats meant and comparing the numbers of my favorite players.

Marathon Bummer
A little over six months ago I experienced the NY Marathon for the first time. Like a lot of spectators, I caught the Marathon itch that day and even vowed to enter my name in the lottery for the 2009.
In the months since race day, I’ve not stopped thinking about the race. This is not to say I’ve been undeterred in my pursuit - there were plenty of dreadfully cold days duing the...
LeBron / Kobe spoof
Since Bron Bron and the Cavs didn’t live up to their end of the bargain, we won’t be seeing a Kobe/TheBron Finals. But I’m sure we’ll still see copious puppet commercials. I like how one YouTube user spoofed the “lil’ Dez” commercial with some timely (and hilarious) voiceover editing to take into account recent events.
