Fun with Numbers: NASCAR Style

As a young boy, I can remember waking up on Saturday mornings and spending hours rearranging my baseball cards in to different binders, piles and boxes.  The permutations were practically endless - by team, by name, by brand and year of card.  I spent quite a bit of time looking at the back of the cards too, figuring out what all the stats meant and comparing the numbers of my favorite players.

Pairing numbers with sport undoubtedly helped me as I grew up to understand and appreciate why it was important to learn my math lessons in school - it was a practical (and fun) application.  Knowing this, I was delighted to find that our four year old nephew Jacob is having some fun learning numbers his own way: through NASCAR.  During our last trip to North Carolina I quizzed Jacob at the dinner table; the results, I dare say, were quite impressive.
