Before we part…

In less than 10 hours we depart for North Carolina for more than a week at two different beaches, split between both of our families.

But before leaving town, we made time for a nice little acquisition.  In light of Baby Mansfield’s impending arrival, we’ve been registering for items and learning about all kinds of new baby products.  As you can imagine, we have some unique needs living in a one bedroom apartment in NYC.  This means, of course, that there’s no pressure to decorate a nursery; on the flip side, we do have to make the most of our space.

In light of this, we’d decided to look into “portable cribs”, which are smaller in size, have wheels for moving around the apartment, and boast convenient hinges for storage.  We originally registered for a new crib, but also began looking on trusty ol’ Craigslist.

Sure enough, we found a lightly used portable crib that a couple was selling prior to a move to Boston.  In addition, they threw in a mattress they had bought that was a huge upgrade from the standard mattress which comes in the box.  The best part is we got the whole package for 1/2 of what the crib by itself would have set us back brand new.

The only challenge was getting it home, which we accomplished on a NYC bus.  Yep, that’s me holding the folded up crib as we rode up 1st Avenue.

After getting home, we were delighted to find that the crib easily rolls throughout our apartment and even fits in our closet!

And just like an infomercial would say - “look at the convenient storage options!”

It always feels good to get a deal.  Especially on the eve of a relaxing vacation.  North Carolina, here we come!
