Worst. Advertisement. Ever.

If you’re anything like me, you’re a bit tired of the Mac vs. PC ads which pit the uber-cool but now annoyingly self-aggrandizing Mac guy against the super-dorky, can’t do anything right PC guy.  These ads were cute at first, but the concept is sort of past its prime.  It’s almost gotten to the point that I’m feeling bad for the way PCs are being portrayed and it’s having the opposite of the intended effect.

And then something like this comes out, and you realize that the stereotypes may just be spot on.

Microsoft is gearing up for the launch on 10/22/09 of its most updated version of Windows, which is called Windows 7.  Apparently, the geniuses in Microsoft marketing thought it would be hip to create a social media campaign designed to get users like you and me to invite people over to our houses for “Microsoft 7 Launch Parties.”

Seriously.

Look, you may not be into technology or have any idea what the differences are between Mac OS and Windows.  But I think we’ve all been inundated with enough advertising messages by now that we’ve developed the talent to sniff out a truly horrible idea when we see it.  The video below, which has been confirmed as not a hoax and an actual use of Microsoft marketing dollars, is so terrible it’s breathtaking.  Like a online advertising train wreck, on display for all to see.  Enjoy.
