TV Talk

So we finally entered the 21st century this weekend, at least TV-wise, when we got DVR hooked up. For two folks who are somewhat tech-enabled and active, it was a bit of a surprise that it took us this long.
I guess the biggest reason we waited was because we don’t watch a ton of shows on TV. Our regular viewing is limited to The Office, sports, and approximately 1 reality show per season which we watch with some regularity (AI, Biggest Loser, etc).
For a long time we held off on DVR precisely because we don’t watch a ton of TV. Would it automatically make us turn into couch potatoes and TV junkies? What we heard unequivocally from a lot of friends was that with DVR you may end up watching more shows/types of programming. But that the watching experience is so much more efficient that the result is essentially the same amount of time.
So we’re bought in and excited about being able to skip commercials. Now it’s time to see if we’ve been missing out on anything:
What TV show is an absolute can’t miss? Leave your answer in the comments and we’ll have to pick a couple to check out. For the record, we need to stick to stuff which shows on regular cable as we’re not subscribers to any of the super fancy channels.
