A week with GiGi
It’s been a busy week for the Mansfields, as week 2 of Miller meant back to work for dad. It was truly a tough pill to swallow each morning when I left the apartment for the day. But the return home in the evening was all the sweeter knowing there was a little man awaiting.
I took solace in the fact that though I was away all day, there was a definite upgrade providing support in my stead back home - Tracy’s mom Donna (or as her grandchildren call her, GiGi).

It’s hard to describe the impact GiGi made while she was here other than to say that she did anything and everything needed around the apartment. She gained an intimate new friend in the form of the laundry room downstairs, made delicious meals for us, and even found time to iron clothes with a crispness that has never been seen in our parts. Her reward for the hours of selfless toil? Our utmost thanks…and all the snuggling with Miller she could muster.

While GiGi was in town, there was plenty of time for a few firsts for Miller - his inaugural subway ride, visits to a few restaurants, an indoctrination with Central Park, and an assortment of new clothing items (thanks in large part to the thoughtful and generous gifts sent by so many friends).

Before we knew it, Thursday night was here and GiGi had to leave. We were sad to see her go, but the goodbyes were abbreviated as we all were comforted by the knowledge that it would be less than a week before we see each other again in NC for Christmas!
