A lot of people I know have expressed a fear for flying.  I’ve never had such a fear, and find that I generally enjoy flying (at least the part after you’re through security and in the air).  For some reason, I get a lot of great thinking done at crusing altitude.  Perhaps its the fact that I’m “unplugged” from blackberry, twitter, phone, etc.  But there’s at least a portion which I attribute simply to being in the sky.

When you’re on a plane you get a realization of just how big the world is.  The traffic on the interstate which seems to stretch for miles (and does!), takes up mere inches of your sky high view and passes in the blink of an eye.  From that perspective, it’s possible in a way to understand how small we are, how many of “us” there are, and just how massive life is outside the day to day grind.

I think this is a good thing.  Which is why I love this collection of pictures entitled “Pictures from the Sky”.  I encourage you to take a few minutes to “fly over” the site today - it’ll blow you away.
