Olympic Fever
Olympic fever is running high in the Mansfield house. Our eyes have been glued to the screen(s) for much of the Games.
If you haven’t checked out the www.nbcolympics.com site, do yourself a favor and do it, pronto. It’s quite simply the best use of streaming video on the Web I’ve ever seen. Don’t be scared when it asks you to download the Microsoft Silverlight plug-in…it’s an easy install and is the “engine” which is running the video feeds.
The result is crystal clear video with literally zero buffering, pauses or other issues which seem to plague Internet TV. I’ve found it’s the best way to get a flavor for the Games - no time to watch an entire soccer match between Brazil and New Zealand? Check out the 3 minute highlight package, on-demand. Some events are even shown live, again with no delays or glitches.
I have no idea what kind of infrastructure this is requiring, but it has to be massive. Something tells me it’s an Olympics-only type investment right now…let’s enjoy it while we can.
