The Mess on Wall Street

More than a few of our friends have contacted us wondering how the craziness going on in the current financial markets is/isn’t affecting my bank. Thankfully, we are very well insulated from the crisis at the moment - with no direct exposure to Lehman, AIG, etc. For us, as long as the venture capital markets continue to be liquid (which they are, and most likely will continue to be due to the longer term nature of their investments), we will be fine. I can go into more detail via email for anyone who’s interested.
Putting all personal attachments aside, this truly is an unprecedented time not just for the finance world, but (unfortunately) it will/is impacting us all. It’s pretty crazy to be up here in the midst of it all as the entire landscape of the financial changes day to day. Like a huge train wreck, except we’re riding in the train and watching it all at the same time!
UPDATE: For those interested in a good place for lucid, thoughtful analysis of the finance world, check out Paul Kedrosky’s blog. He’s a VC, economist, and frequent contributor to CNBC.
