Half Marathon Girls
A little over a month ago, our good friend Summer Ellis asked Tracy if she would be up for running a women’s half marathon. One of Summer’s friends had registered but was no longer able to run, so Tracy took her entry number.
With only 4-5 weeks to prepare, Tracy was a bit nervous about the race. She had run one half marathon before - but that was in 2005. And then there was the little fact that she had given birth to the little man a mere 4 months before. Yet, she drew encouragement from the fact that Summer had completed a half marathon in January, only 6 months or so after her own son was born.
So the girls decided to step up to the challenge.
Despite their nerves - and the additional obstacle of sub-50 degree rainy weather - Summer and Tracy attacked the race like no other. As you can see from the video below, they did their best to keep the masses entertained with constant “whoop whoops” and continuous singing out loud to their synchronized playlists. In the end, the girls were TOO fast…while John and I kept our eyes peeled at the finish to see them through, we apparently missed our ladies as they sped by. By the time we saw them, they were chomping on bagels and ready for warm showers.
All in all, we couldn’t be more proud of the accomplishments of these very strong ladies who somehow find the energy to also dominate life as moms and wives. Way to go girls!
