When life is a blur
I feel like the last 5 days have been a blur, and looking back, the blog activity (or lack thereof) seems to corroborate this fact. To recap:
- Wednesday after work we prepared to host the gamewatching party for the Carolina-Duke game. After some swift vacuuming, dips in the oven, and platters placed, we were ready for the big game with more than an hour to spare. Somehow we fit close to 20 people in the apartment and were treated by Ty Lawson & Co. to a 2nd half to remember.
- After cleaning up dishes and watching the post-game highlights a few dozen times, I was finally able to make myself fall asleep after midnight. This wouldn’t have been as bad if I didn’t have a 4am wake-up call the next day for an early morning flight to North Carolina. After a day of meetings at the bank home office, I was able to catch up with a few Durham friends over Armadillo Grille queso and wings (and sweet tea of course!)
- I flew back on Friday, but scheduled my flight into LaGuardia to coincide with my parents who came for a weekend visit. From Friday evening through Sunday afternoon we ate great meals (Tony’s, Cowgirl, Lombardi’s, Luke’s), were dazzled by the dancing in Billy Elliot on Broadway, and somehow found time to fit in a few Wii bowling matches (which led to the inevitable “Turkey” dance in recognition of three strikes in a row). It was a fantastic weekend filled with many laughs and great memories - including the biggest news of the weekend when my sister called us to let us know she is engaged!
- President’s Day was a bank holiday which provided the perfect opportunity to sleep in. However, Tracy was the one with the early morning wake-up for a 7am shift at Anthro. We met up for a burrito and chips during a late lunch and relaxed for the rest of the afternoon.
The blur is perhaps behind us…for now. Our next visitor arrives in less than 48 hours as my great friend Ryan Applegate has a night booked at The Mansfield Hotel and will be followed the very next day by Tracy’s parents! It will be another packed week but we wouldn’t have it any other way, as one of our favorite things about living in the city is getting to share the experience with so many loved ones!
As for now, I guess I should go get some sleep…
