How do you stack up?

Amidst the gloom and doom of Treasury’s pressuring of Bank of America and management changes at MySpace, today’s Wall Street Journal front page featured an article focused on the lighter side of life, focusing on the emerging “sport”/contest of sport stacking.

The activity involves stacking plastic cups in various sized pyramid shapes, and has official rules and (apparently) a cult following.  The article focused on 8-year old Steven Purugganan, the so-called “Tiger Woods of Speed Stacking”.  Apparently Purugganan practices up to 3 hours a day on his stacking skills, and the hard work has paid off in several World Stacking championships and internet notoriety through clips posted on YouTube.

Wow.  The speed with which the young champ moves is breathtaking.  Perhaps at your next summer barbeque you should try a little speed stacking to see if you have the chops to compete at next year’s world championships.  You can get your official gear here.
